Bristol - City of Prosperity, Culture and VitalityAs the capital of the West and the United Kingdoms eighth city, Bristol is enjoying something of a boom. Rapidly developing into one of the country’s major business and commercial centres, Bristol offers a great deal to the national and international business sectors. The expansion and indeed relocation of many businesses from larger cities to Bristol is well documented, showing that for the ambitious, lucrative rewards are to be had. The inherent effects of this on the local economy are obvious and positive, making Bristol an exciting and vibrant place to work and trade.Bristol is justifiably proud of its heritage; described by John Betjeman as "The most beautiful, interesting and distinguished city in England" it has a rich and colourful history, characterised largely by its strong affiliation to things maritime. Within a relatively small area one can marvel at the Avon Gorge, visit the SS Great Britain, stroll around the Maritime Heritage Centre or just sit and watch the world go by, near to where John Cabot set sails for the New World in 1497. Surrounded by the beautiful Avon countryside, Bristol offers the tourist a perfect base to tour the West country, superbly facilitated by its own International airport, two mainline Railway stations and with easy access to the M4 and M5, it couldn’t be easier to get to. Leaving is, by all accounts considerably harder as you become enthralled by this fascinating and elegant city. With the major rejuvenation of the City Centre and Quayside celebrating the Millennium, Bristol is a national leader in combating city centre congestion and pollution, ensuring that it develops aesthetically as it expands economically. Culturally, Bristol has few equals. Visitors can see a play at the historic Theatre Royal, watch a West End musical at the Hippodrome, listen to the best music at the Colston Hall or seek out one of the city’s many alternative venues. With an inspiring blend of architectural periods and styles, from the Georgian elegance of Clifton to the imposing splendour of Bristol Cathedral, Bristol has something for everyone. Add to all this a huge range of hotels, shops, cafes and restaurants and you are left with an extraordinarily diverse and cosmopolitan city. At Armada House we like to think of ourselves as a microcosm of Bristol itself; providing state of the art equipment and excellent personal service in a splendid Edwardian building. A truly unique conferencing experience created by the amalgamation of cutting edge technology, in an historic setting, with a city centre location. |
