Get hitched in Bristol

Ever thought about having a city centre wedding in Bristol?  Voted as the best place to live in Britain [by the Sunday Times 2014] Bristol can offer fun, playful and romantic ideas for getting hitched in the city centre. With its colourful streets, graffiti culture, its contrasting styles of architecture, harbour side views and rich history, Bristol is a unique urban setting for a city centre wedding.

What does Bristol mean for to you?  Perhaps this is where you and your partner met, grew up or moved to? With lots of things to see, do, drink and eat, Bristol can add a unique dynamic to a wedding day.  A boat ride on the historic floating harbour, drinks at one of many independent cocktail bars, rustic photographs in front of a city ruin can all add a special aesthetic and entertainment factor.

Our venue Armada House is super close to all central amenities such as hotels, carparks and transport links including Bristol Temple Meads, M32 and central bus links.

A city centre wedding can work differently to a traditional country house venue by including a range of activities and locations that the city has to offer. At Armada House we create bespoke and flexible wedding options. Here are some ideas as to how people have used our venue for city centre weddings:

For ceremonies and wedding breakfasts

Our venue can accommodate for the full shebang from the wedding ceremony through to the dancefloor.  As a main venue guests only need to rock up and relax at one dedicated venue and photographers can take pictures for you in and around the city centre.  There are a number of great hotels within walking distance from our venue for you and your guests.

Canapes, drink reception or wedding breakfasts

Getting married at Bristol Registry Office means you are right in the heart of historic Bristol and St Nicks Market, and only a 5-minute walk from our venue. We’ve often hosted post ceremony drinks receptions and or wedding breakfasts.

Get married in our stunning Elton Room followed by drinks and canapes in our lobby and Brunel Room before you scooch off for a boat trip or for a dinner somewhere else of your choice.  The Elton Room at our venue is beautifully oak panelled with a historic Jacobean Fireplace. It can hold up to 70 guests and creates a cosy environment for an intimate ceremony.

Armada House is a fully licensed venue for civil wedding ceremonies.  Our Cabot Room, Elton Room & Brunel Room can offer so many possibilities for your wedding day from the ceremony to canape’s and drinks to wedding breakfasts.  We’re in the heart of Bristol and within easy distance to a range of hotels and public transport links, Bristol Registry Office and to the best spots of beautiful, historic Bristol for your wedding album.

There are a range of hotels in Bristol that offer unique and boutique services.  Brooks Guest House is the closest to us and is located within the St Nicks Market and 2 minutes from Bristol Registry Office.  With contemporary and stylish decor their interior will make Newly Weds and/or guests feel in luxury. Alternatively, get a rooftop view of Bristol from one of their retro rocket airstreams all stunningly fitted, surprisingly spacious - truly a night to remember!
